To help enable our own growth, we’re looking to add a Manager, Business Development to help us manage and expand our partnership programs.

The Role:

The Business Development Representative is responsible for nurturing existing partner relationships, providing value adding communications and training to existing partners and carriers to maximize quality referrals, vetting incoming referral leads, scheduling demonstrations with sales, and acting as a brand ambassador in order to drive business growth and the achievement of revenue targets.

Essential Position Duties (typical monthly, weekly, daily tasks which support the primary objectives):

  1. Develop and Maintain Partner Relationships
    • Source new partners through calling campaigns and online research.
    • Establish strong rapport with new and existing partners and present the ShipWorks solution in a consultative way that demonstrates the value and fit to customers based on their identified shipping needs.
    • Deliver consistent value-adding correspondence which demonstrates the value of the ShipWorks product and positions it as the best possible solution with our clientele.
  2. Qualify and Validate Incoming Leads
    • Assess the partner profile for alignment to ideal attributes.
    • Schedule product demos.
    • Engage internal resources to ensure carry leads through the sales process.
    • Consistently log activities/tasks data into designated tracking software.
  3. Collaborate with Internal Resources
    • Work closely with Marketing to develop appropriate, concise, and impactful partner messaging.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the ShipWorks platform and how it is differentiated from its competitors


Education and/or Experience:                                                                  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • One to Three (1-3) years’ experience in business sales or related market.
  • Prior experience with e-commerce, shipping, and/ or logistics is preferred.

 Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to convert leads into customers.
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to effectively deliver presentations to small and/or large groups
  • Strong business acumen; ability to react and adapt quickly to changes in priorities, goals, and targets
  • People person who desires to connect with individuals across all teams
  • Eager problem solver

 Computer/Software/Application Proficiency:                                                   

  • Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Contact Management systems

 Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10%
